Synopsis

In these turbulent and fragmented times, a return to nature, and an immersion in ancient rituals and traditions can be a potent and powerful aid to solace and healing.

This event brings together the exciting literary voices of Freya Bromley and Rebecca Tamás who will talk about their work and the journeys literal and emotional that have taken them across the UK, as well as the grief, wonder and connection to the natural world that fuel their writing.

In her new work of non-fiction ‘The Book of Mysteries’ Tamás, suffering from burn-out and grief both environmental and personal, sets out on a journey across the UK guided by the Pagan wheel of the year. In this vivid blend of memoir, nature writing and ecological thinking, the author seeks new answers in old folk ways, so as to encounter the live-giving mystery of the natural world. Tamás’ first poetry collection, WITCH (Penned in the Margins, 2019), was a Guardian, Times, Telegraph, Paris Review and Radio 4 Book of the Year.

Freya Bromley is a writer whose work explores love, loss and the restorative power of nature. Her memoir The Tidal Year was shortlisted for the Nero Book Awards and her first novel A real piece of work was released this summer with Penguin. She writes for titles including Condé Nast Traveller, National Geographic Traveller and Lonely Planet.
