Synopsis
In 1905, the White family of rural Lincolnshire found themselves at the centre of a terrifying haunting. Their livestock was cursed, machinery mysteriously broken, and spontaneous fires began to erupt in their farmhouse, all before one servant girl was seriously injured and visiting priests declared the place “the devil’s work”.
The culprit? According to villagers: a witch.
In this spine-chilling talk, Dr Kate Cherrell uncovers the unnerving true story of the Binbrook Witch House: a tale of rural superstition, hysteria and inexplicable horror. Drawing from original archives, spiritualist records and folklore, she pieces together a mystery that baffled psychics and terrified clergy alike. Was it a witch? A poltergeist? Or something darker still?
A Lincolnshire-based writer, broadcaster and paranormal historian, Dr Kate specialises in supernatural history and the Victorian spiritualist movement.
Her debut book Begotten published this year and will be followed by Buried England in 2026. She has appeared on Discovery, Blaze, and the BBC, and brings gothic flair and rigorous research to the stories that haunt our collective past.
