Thelma - BFC (12A)
This comedy stars 94-year-old June Squibb in her first leading role.
Thelma is 93 and living alone when she is taken in by a phone scammer. Unable to contact her busy daughter and son-in-law, she dispatches the cash. Her daughter wonders if it is time for her to go into a home, but Thelma refuses to give up either her independence or her money.
Hilarious and touching, the film is dedicated to the real Thelma, the director’s own grandmother.
