The Taste of Things - BFC (12A)
This handsomely shot French film is a feast for the senses, evoking the scents, savours and sizzle of the preparation of classic French cuisine.
Set in the 1890s, in the kitchen of a rural chateau where, for the past 20 years, Eugenie has been preparing the dishes dreamed up by her epicurean employer, Dodin Bouffant.
Their shared passion for good food has built an intimacy between them, which is beautifully portrayed.
A film to savour – but not on an empty stomach.
In French with subtitles.
