Living (12A)

An understated drama set in early 50s London, and scripted by Kazuo Ishiguro (THE REMAINS OF THE DAY).  Bill Nighy plays Mr Williams, a lonely widower employed as a civil servant at County Hall.  When he learns that he has only a few months to live, Williams determines to ‘live a little’, without quite knowing how.  He first samples hedonism in Brighton, then re-encounters an ex-colleague in London.  An affecting and beautifully made film, with an unforgettable performance from Bill Nighy.
